Pumpkins and lanterns have a place at every Thanksgiving table. But did you know the symbol is older than that? On November 11, in Europe, children participated yearly in the lantern walk. This tradition was meant to bring light as they entered the darker half of the year. On Nov 21st we will be painting our own lanterns to bring to the fall festivities and winter nights ahead.

$30 gives you all the supplies you need and detailed step by step instructions.

Enjoy this lantern walk rhyme:

The days are shorter, nights grow longer,

Autumn winds are blowing stronger.

But the lantern gleaming bright,  finds its wind through darkening night.

As through winter night you pass and angry storm clouds hide the stars,

Still you see by tiny spark, shine before you in the dark
